The nature of the San Bernardino mountainous region (an hour and a half from Los Angeles by car), will shatter the conventional notions of southern California. Beaches, palm trees, kitesurf and shorts all year round? In San Bernardino, you will see a very different scenario. Pine trees, fresh air, reflection of mountain peaks in the water, hot springs, berry farms and ski slopes. And, of course, lakes. There are a great many lakes here, and the most beautiful are three. Number one is Big Bear Lake. We will drive along the perimeter of the water mirror to see enough of the lake from different angles. Number two is Arrowhead. Safely hidden in the mountains, intricately carved - and very much reminiscent of the alpine landscapes. Number three is Lake Gregory. The smallest and perhaps the most picturesque in our top list. We will definitely complement the trip on the lakes with a stroll through the coastal villages, an excellent lunch at a local tavern and (in season) swimming or playing snowballs.
